No, you do not need a referral to see an osteopath. Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners and to make an appointment you can book online or call the clinic.
Your initial osteopathic consultation will take approximately 45-60 minutes, while subsequent consultations take up to 20-30 minutes. Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your initial treatment to fill out a brief questionnaire about your past/present medical history and your presenting complaint.
Yes, please bring with you any scans and reports that you feel may be applicable to your presenting complaint when you attend your initial consultation.
We recommended you wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move around in. You may be asked to remove certain items of clothing (e.g. tops, trousers) depending on the location of your presenting complaint.
Medicare: Osteopathic treatment is not covered by Medicare unless you are on a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. This entitles you to up to five visits per calendar year. You will need to consult with your GP as CDM plans can only be initiated by your GP. We will work in conjunction with your GP/healthcare professional in order to provide the best possible care and treatment outcome for you.
Private Health Insurance: Given osteopathy is part of your ‘extras’ cover then you are able to claim on the spot and pay the remaining gap with our HICAPS facility.
